11th Lesson -Nikhilam sutra-corollaries

11th Lesson of  mathematics tricks and fun       Hello friends ,today we are going to stud y Nikhilam Sutra in multiplication. I am Dr Prema b sejekan.  Nikhilam Sutra says Nikhilam Navatascharamam Dasatah.Means All from Nine and Last from Ten . Nikhilam sutra has upasutras corollaries and sub-corollaries.All of them and their application  in multiplication will be discussed here.  Here  applications of Nikhilam Sutra in general is shown.Let us take the first among the 7 examples. In this, the first question is  9 times 9.working base is 10 . So complement of 9 from 10 is 1.   1×1 is 1 and  9-1 is 8. The answer is 81.2nd example is 7× 6 , so complement of  7 from 10 is 3. Complement of 6 is 4 so we will write 7-3× by 6-4 so ,3×4 is 12 and 7-4,is 3 .Adding the carry overs answer is 42.  Rest all examples are with different bases ie  100,1000 base  done in the similar way. ...

6th Lesson- squaring of numbers -arithmetic progression

6th Lesson Mathematics Tricks and Fun squaring of numbers with same digits by arithmetic progression Hello friends   I am Dr Prema B Sejekan .This is the 6th lesson of Mathematics and Fun tutorial .Here we will learn the squaring of 111, 222,444,555. Once we know the technique , however long the number with same digits we can square it. In this slide squaring of 111 is shown .first we will count the digits in the question.totally 6 digits.so we will mark 6 dots.then we will multiply first lateral digits. 1×1= 01. we will place 0 on the multiplicand side lateral end and 1 on the multiplier side lateral end. Thus we start from both sides. Now add 1 to 0 =1, 1+1=2. Then we count from multiplier side 1+1=2, 2+1=3 so the answer is 012 321 .the second question 1111×1111 total 8 digits. Answer is 0123 4321. In the third example , one digit is extra on one side so the answer is 01 2 21 ie extra digits place will be occupied by 2(0+2=2 or 1+1=2). Another example   1...

Mathematics Tricks and Fun

Mathematics tricks and Fun This is a website on simplified mathematics steps using Vedic mathematics from the book written by jagadguru Swami Sri Bharathi Krishna Thirtha Maharaj. My interest in Vedic mathematics was kindled by Bhaskaracharya Leelavati book, which I got as a gift from my elder sister. Then on I have collected a few books by different authors on Vedic mathematics. One day while multiplying with certain numbers especially number 9, I stumbled upon some patterns which will help children to quickly solve the problems and kindle their interest in further reading. For that matter, my interest in mathematics was lit up by my late father Baban M.Shet, though I failed to answer his random questioning of multiplication table. It is my nature not to take failures lying down. I used to score 100% marks in all maths examinations. So I want to start the spark in children. They can take it as carrier or hobby. There are great mathematicians who were judges and had maths as hobby....
